Move Your Meditation History from Insight Timer to Timefully
Import your meditation session log exported from Insight Timer (CSV): open Import Sessions in Timefully and choose the file. Your start times, session lengths, and preset names come across; the import runs on your phone and nothing is uploaded. Here is the whole path, and what to expect.
Available from Timefully 5.11 on iOS and Android.
Timefully is not affiliated with or endorsed by Insight Timer.
Step 1 — Export your log from Insight Timer
- In Insight Timer, open the menu and go to Settings.
- Choose Features & Preferences, then Sessions.
- Tap Export Log. Insight Timer produces a CSV file and offers to share it.
- Save it somewhere you can reach from your phone — Files or iCloud Drive on iPhone, Drive or Downloads on Android — or email it to yourself.
The session-log CSV has four columns: the start time, the duration, the preset, and the activity. See Insight Timer’s session-log export instructions for their current steps.
Step 2 — Import it into Timefully
- Open Timefully, open the menu on the left, and choose Import Sessions.
- Under From a file, tap Choose a file and pick the export.
- Timefully reads the file and shows a preview: how many sessions it found, the date span, how many are new, and how many are already in your history.
- Tap Import new sessions.
A summary appears when it is done: sessions added, total practice time, and how far back your history now reaches. Statistics and streaks include the sessions from that moment.
What comes across, and what does not
From Insight Timer’s session-log CSV, Timefully imports:
- When it started
- How long it lasted
- A title, when available — the preset name, or the activity if there is no preset name. A generic "Meditation" activity without a preset name arrives without a title.
The session-log CSV does not contain notes, mood, heart rate, or time zones, so Timefully cannot bring those across from this file. Timefully explains these limits in the preview. Insight Timer also offers a separate journal export; Timefully’s importer reads the session log, not the journal export.
About the times
Insight Timer’s session-log CSV records local times without a time zone. Timefully reads them in the time zone your phone is in right now and tells you which one in the preview. If you meditated while travelling, those sessions may land a few hours off, which can also change the day shown. The session length is preserved.
Importing more than once
Timefully recognises sessions it already has by their start time (to the second) and length, so you can import a newer export later and only the new sessions are added. If you ever import something you did not mean to, open Import Sessions and tap Remove next to that import under Recent imports — only the sessions it added are deleted.
Your trees and achievements
Statistics, streaks, and totals count the imported history. Trees do not grow retroactively; they grow from the sits you do from now on. Achievements that the history already earns are awarded quietly, without a celebration for each one.
Prefer to convert first?
If you would like to look at the data before it enters the app, the Open Sit page has a browser tool that turns an Insight Timer session-log CSV into an Open Sit file locally, without uploading it. Timefully imports Open Sit files the same way.
