Reminders
Consistency is key to building a meditation practice. Timefully's reminder system helps you stay on track by sending gentle notifications at times you choose. This guide walks you through setting up reminders and making them work for your schedule.
Setting Up Your First Reminder
- Open Timefully and tap the Settings icon (gear) in the bottom navigation.
- Scroll to the Reminders section and tap Manage Reminders.
- Tap Add Reminder to create a new notification.
- Choose a time that fits your routine—many users prefer morning (before work) or evening (before bed).
- Enable the reminder with the toggle and grant notification permission when prompted.
Tip: Start with one reminder per day. Once it becomes a habit, you can add more.
Choosing Days and Times
Timefully lets you customize exactly when reminders appear:
- Days: Tap Repeat to select which days of the week you want reminders. You can choose weekdays only, weekends, or any custom combination.
- Time: Set a specific time for each reminder. You can have different times on different days if needed.
- Multiple reminders: Add several reminders throughout the day—for example, a morning session and an afternoon break.
Best Practices for Building a Habit
- Anchor to existing routines: Tie your reminder to something you already do (e.g., right after your morning coffee).
- Be realistic: A 5-minute reminder at 7:00 AM is easier to keep than a 30-minute block at 6:00 AM.
- Adjust as needed: If you miss reminders often, try a different time or reduce the number of reminders.
Managing Notifications
To ensure reminders reach you:
- In Settings > Reminders, confirm notifications are enabled for Timefully.
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Notifications > Timefully and allow Allow Notifications.
- Choose Banner or Lock Screen so you see reminders even when the app is closed.
- Optionally enable Sounds and Badges for a clearer nudge.
Note: If you use Focus modes (e.g., Do Not Disturb), add Timefully to the allowed apps if you want reminders during those times.
Multiple Reminders
You can create up to several reminders per day:
- Tap Add Reminder for each additional time slot.
- Give each a distinct purpose if helpful (e.g., "Morning sit," "Lunch break," "Wind down").
- Use the Repeat options to limit reminders to certain days—for example, longer sessions on weekends.
Tips for Success
- Start small: One short session per day beats sporadic long sessions.
- Don't skip, shorten: If you're rushed, do 2–3 minutes instead of skipping entirely.
- Review weekly: Check your statistics to see which reminder times you actually follow.
