This guide helps you resolve common issues with Timefully. If your problem isn't covered here, contact us at hi@timefully.co—we're here to help.

App Not Opening

If Timefully crashes on launch or won't open:

  1. Force quit and reopen: Swipe up from the app switcher and swipe Timefully away, then open it again.
  2. Restart your device: A full restart often fixes temporary glitches.
  3. Check for updates: Go to the App Store and ensure Timefully is up to date.
  4. Reinstall: Delete the app and reinstall from the App Store. Your data may be restored from iCloud if sync was enabled—otherwise, it may be lost, so export first if possible.
  5. Storage: Ensure your device has enough free space (Settings > General > Storage).

Timer Not Counting

If the timer freezes or doesn't advance:

  1. Background app refresh: Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and ensure it's on for Timefully.
  2. Low Power Mode: Low Power Mode can limit background activity. Try disabling it or keeping the app in the foreground during sessions.
  3. Do Not Disturb / Focus: These usually don't affect the timer, but try disabling them to rule out conflicts.
  4. Restart the session: End the current session and start a new one.
  5. Reinstall: If the issue persists, reinstall the app after backing up your data.

Bells Not Playing

If you don't hear bells during meditation:

  1. Volume: Check your device volume and ensure it's not muted. Try the physical volume buttons.
  2. Silent switch: On iPhone, ensure the physical mute switch is not engaged (orange = muted).
  3. Bell settings: In Timefully, go to Settings > Bells & Sounds and confirm bells are enabled and an interval is set.
  4. Bell type: Some bell types are subtle. Try a different one to verify audio works.
  5. Bluetooth: If using Bluetooth headphones, ensure they're connected and not paired to another device.
  6. Haptic only: If you enabled haptic bells only, no sound will play—check that setting.

Watch App Issues

If the Apple Watch app isn't working:

  1. Pairing: Ensure your Watch is paired and connected to your iPhone.
  2. Installation: The Watch app installs with the iPhone app. If missing, open the Watch app on iPhone, find Timefully, and ensure "Show App on Apple Watch" is on.
  3. Sync: Open Timefully on both iPhone and Watch and wait a minute for presets to sync.
  4. Restart Watch: Hold the side button, tap Power Off, then turn it back on.
  5. Reinstall: Remove Timefully from the Watch (Watch app > Timefully > Show App on Apple Watch: Off), then turn it back on to reinstall.

Sync Not Working

If iCloud sync isn't updating:

  1. Connectivity: Ensure both devices have Wi‑Fi or cellular data.
  2. iCloud: Check Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud—iCloud Drive should be on, and you should have space.
  3. Same Apple ID: All devices must use the same Apple ID for sync.
  4. Manual refresh: Open Timefully on each device and leave it open for a minute.
  5. Toggle sync: Turn iCloud sync off and back on in Timefully Settings.

Missing Sessions

If sessions don't appear:

  1. Sync delay: Wait a few minutes and open the app again. Sync can be delayed.
  2. Wrong profile: If you use profiles, ensure you're viewing the correct one.
  3. Date range: Check that your statistics or history view isn't filtered to a narrow date range.
  4. Export backup: If you exported sessions before, you can re-import them (see Export & Import guide).

Battery Tips

To reduce battery use during meditation:

  1. Lower screen brightness or use Auto-Brightness.
  2. Enable Low Power Mode only if necessary—it can affect the timer (see above).
  3. Close other apps to reduce background activity.
  4. On Watch: Use a simple watch face and avoid always-on display during long sessions if battery is a concern.
